December 7, 2016 – The long awaited physical Low Country Golf Hall of Fame has its grand opening at its new location!

The LCGHOF grand opening was held December 7, 2016 from 5:30 – 8:30 at our physical location in the Shops at Sea Pines Center. Mayor Bennett, along with dignitaries from the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce and Town Council, were in attendance for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

We had a tremendous turn out with 85+ golf enthusiasts from our Low Country area. There were light hors d’oeuvres served, courtesy of Truffles along with wine and cheese. All of the living inductees and board members were on hand to answer questions and share the joyous evening with our guests.

HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2016 NOW OPEN FOR NOMINATIONS

September 25, 2015 – Nominations are now being accepted for the second annual class to the Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame. Anyone can nominate! However, it takes more than a quick note reading, “My buddy Bill should be in the Hall of Fame.” Even if Bill is well-known and probably deserving, the Selection Committee requires documentation.

In addition to a letter describing the nominee’s accomplishments, the Selection Committee requires two other letters of recommendation supporting the nomination. The Selection Sub-Committee will oversee the vetting process and is responsible for submitting finalists for consideration to the Selection Committee.

Once the Selection Committee receives the finalists, they will review, discuss and vote. By rule, a candidate must receive at least seventy-five percent of the votes to qualify and only two candidates may be elected in that calendar year. If deemed necessary by the Selection Committee, one additional lifetime achievement candidate may be elected in that calendar year. Submissions are eligible for consideration for five years.

Last year’s Inaugural Class of Inductees were Charles Fraser, Joe Fraser, Charlie Price, Jim Ferree, Tim Moss, Mike Harmon, and Kevin King.

Submissions that remain eligible for this year’s consideration are Jim Ferguson, C. Gary Shimmin, Drew Butler, Happ Lathrop, Jeff Kid, Karen Ferree, Bill Palmer, Doug Weaver, John Patterson, John Farrell, Linda Hartough, Cary Corbitt, Duke Delcher, Skip Malek, Tom McKnight, Gary Duren, Heidi Wright-Tennyson, and Pete Dye.

Members of the Selection Sub-Committee include Chairman Scott Stilwell, Jim Ferree, Tim Moss, Mike Harmon, and Kevin King.
Members of the Selection Committee are Chairman Mike Harmon, Heidi Wright-Tennyson, John Patterson, Bob Collar, Rich Kerr, John Farrell, Scott Stilwell, Bob Patton, Skip Malek, Drew Butler, Mark Anderson and P.J. Tanner.

The Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame is located in the Shops at Sea Pines Center. Currently, the seven inaugural inductee images, artifacts, and testimonials are on display. Hours of operation and the grand opening have yet to be determined but you may view inductees’ names and testimonials at lowcountrygolfhalloffame.com.

Any questions or comments should be directed to Bob Collar at (843) 816-0898 or clubcollar@aol.com.
